The FDA Has Banned Clove Cigarettes Cigarettes

Flavored tobacco is still allowed for the time being!

Recently, the FDA was given the authority to regulate tobacco.  This has resulted in the FDA issuing bans on clove cigarettes.

The relevant information is available here:  http://www.fda.gov/TobaccoProducts/NewsEvents/ucm173174.htm

The FDA states their ban will be in effect "By October".  Our suppliers will have to stop shipping before then, so, at present the cutoff date for clove sales is September 22.

The FDA does have a "contact us" link, if you'd like to voice your opinion:  http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/ContactFDA/default.htm

Suppliers have been restocked with leaf, most blends are back in stock on the web site with the exception of Blend 2, Blend 14, Blend 24 and Blend 28.  Those should be restocked over the next several days.

Thanks!

April 7 2009 -
We're still digging out from under the rush of orders that happened as tax day approached - We're fulfilling at the greatest possible speed.  A quick 'Welcome!' to all the new customers who've stopped by!

We should be back to a more normal fulfillment cycle ( 2-4 days ) by Mid-April, as our suppliers catch up with their back orders.

Thanks as always -

The Assault on Smokers continues via Fire Safe Cigarettes

In addition to what we researched for the video, let's look at a bit more.  This is from http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/repeal-fire-safe-cigarette-laws - the Citizens Against Fire Safe Cigarettes:

More puffs per cigarette
"The need to keep an FSC burning increases the number of inhales per cigarette, and thus increases the amount of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide intake into the smoker's lungs" - Relighting = Increased Risks! "The Fire Safe Cigarette design has resulted in more frequent ash, which may fall and ignite more fires than regular cigarettes."

Ahh, the refreshing taste of... Mothballs?
"The Harvard School of Health reported that when comparing NY Cigarettes (FSC) versus Regular Cigarettes, the FSC cigarettes produced 13.9% more Naphthalene and 11.4% more carbon monoxide than regular cigarettes.[1] Naphthalene is commonly found in moth balls, and exposure in high amounts can result in 'Symptoms of acute exposure include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, malaise, confusion, anemia, jaundice, convulsions, and coma.' Therefore, it has been proven that FSC cigarettes contain higher levels of chemicals that are harmful to smokers."

"But Mr. Principal, I wasn't smoking, the cigarette was..."
That excuse didn't wash back then, we still got demerits and detention. Sorry to sound less than compassionate, but the cigarette didn't jump out of the pack and burn the house down. A person mishandled an ignited product. Happens with stoves, fireplaces, automobiles every day.

Anecdotes:
A Topix forum at This Link is only one of several sites where smokers discuss these FSCs and how they feel after smoking them.
